It seems you can’t go anywhere nowadays without having to rub your eyes ferociously when staring yet another price increase down.
From groceries and household bills to public transport and petrol prices, there’s barely an area of our lives that hasn't been impacted by both the cost-of-living crisis and an amalgamation of significant economic and social upheaval.
With all of that in mind, we’re delighted to announce… (just kidding!).
At Scentish, we’ve always tried to avoid placing the impact of cost increases on our customers, because we know first hand how quickly costs rack up for everyone at times like these.
But it’s important to be transparent about price increases and why we’ve felt it necessary to move our prices up for the first time in two years.
The short version
One of our commitments as a small business has been to always deliver affordable cruelty-free and vegan cosmetics that align with our ethics.
This means that we focus on using the best raw, ethical ingredients, which are currently in high demand and low supply.
Take rapeseed oil, for example – as other oils such as sunflower oil have been detrimentally hit due to the ongoing Russian invasion in Ukraine, vegetable oils such as rapeseed oil have seen a significant increase in demand, and along with it, a significant increase in price.
In short, not only are a lot of raw ingredients stalling in supply, but their viable replacements are also now in high demand as well.
Add in the fact that we’re committed to paying our staff above the living wage and that the global demand for cosmetics has increased, it’s become (unfortunately) inevitable that costs will have to increase somewhere.
So, what does this mean for Scentish customers?
Our prices are increasing across six products for now:
- Whipped Soap
- Soap Sponges
- Lip Balm
- Room Spray
- Toilet fizz
- Scrubs
These items will only be increased by £1 max. As an example, that means that whipped soaps are increasing from £5.95 to £6.95.
We know that it’s only a small increase to cover the rising costs of running our business, but we also know that every penny counts at times like these, which is why it’s important to be totally transparent about not only the fact that we’re doing it, but also why we’re doing it.
We’ll always be committed to creating affordable, luxury cosmetics
No money from price increases is ever going to be for the sake of greediness (we could just eat all of our bath bombs if we were so inclined… we wouldn’t recommend it, though).
It’s always going to go towards creating affordable, vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics and being an ethical employer.
Of course, all businesses have to make money to survive, but what’s more important to us is to not compromise on the quality of our products to satisfy the costs.
All of our customers can trust that whenever small increases occur, they are with full transparency and go towards Scentish remaining a business that cares about making quality products for our quality customers.
We guess the ‘TL;DR’ for this is – we’re increasing prices across five products by a maximum of £1, but rest assured that this will always be going towards being an ethical employer and a cruelty-free, vegan small business.
